Dangerous knowledge gamemode
#1
Exclamation
In this gamemode, one person is chosen as a victim and two or more are chosen as agents.
The victim must run from agents, as they are mean and want to kill the victim.

Victim:
They posess secret information that some company doesn't want them to know.
The victim must avoid everyone, as anyone could be an agent sent by that company to assasinate them.
ADDITION: The victim may also spawn with a briefcase with 3 or more secret files (that you obviously can't open).
Victim victory conditions:
1. The victim escaped on the shuttle alive, or lived long enough for some stuff to happen
2. All agents were killed

Agent:
Agents are sent by some company to assasinate the said victim, or steal the briefcase.
The agents must complete their goals with least casualties as possible (the target doesn't count)
They have starter equipment consisting of: A Fibre wire, an Emag and a Supressed pistol.
Agent victory conditions:
1. The victim is terminated and/or the briefcase is retrieved (or destroyed)

Was thinking on this idea for some time now. What do you think of this idea?

Some things to consider:

1. Is the Victim antag status? If not, then what's stopping him from going to security and barricading himself in the HQ? Actually whats stopping him from doing that anyway?
2. What is the purpose of the secret files if it's just the briefcase that needs to retrieved?
3. Is the briefcase not a big "HEYOO" to the agent? It can't be put in a backpack. What's stopping the victim from hiding the briefcase?
4. How is goal of least casualties tracked? AFAIK this is difficult to do codewise. BYOND will track how the person died but won't link it to assassin, outside of circumstances where executing involves a specific action (such as a changeling or blob absorbing a player). Another example is murder objectives - BYOND doesn't care if you killed the person, it just checks if the person is alive or not.

It would make more sense to have the secret documents in a special ULTRA-SEALED IMPOSSIBRU folder. Also the tricky thing with antag status is that it basically gives the "victim" full rights to murderbone, and old gang showed us that it's impossible to administrate antags with "semi-antag" status.

Here's an idea for some modifications.
1: Briefcase is replaced by a lockbox which fits in a backpack
2: Target has explicit antag status
3: Agents are sent by NT and do not have antag status(but have a limited amount of leeway for fucking up and getting the wrong guy). They have a very limited number of points to order in stealth related equipment(22s, derringers, fibre wire, voice changers, agent cards, things of this nature).
4: Target can open the lockbox by entering the name of any agent into it(this is done via a dropdown menu with the names of the entire crew on it to prevent bad spelling). They get 3 guesses for this after which the box self-destructs and they lose. Rather than documents, lockbox contains a single autoinjector of serum which will empower the target in a way that is different each round and unknown to the target. Maybe it turns them into a vampire with 5000 blood, maybe it turns them into a changeling with a shitload of DNA, maybe it turns them into a fully upgraded blob or a wizard or something. Nobody knows, but they do know that it will immediately grant the target a lot of power.
5: As soon as the target opens the lockbox, all agents are immediately alerted to his location and identity and gain the ability to order in more powerful equipment to deal with him.

This will lead to the victim hiding in a locker or fucking off into space

How about Target is a syndie and gets a few TC for buying stuff, the code being a tatoo put on every agent that goes after them, only noticeable if they aren't wearing an undershirt (jumpsuit, speedo, etc.)

This sounds like it would work best as a bonus objective for spies, imo

Maybe as an "XTRA-HOT" objective that rewards you with a guaranteed surplus crate? Or maybe, even better, let it reward you with a radio-style regular traitor uplink.
