sawing a stack of logs into planks with a chainsaw turns it into exactly one plank, with it deleting all of the rest of the wood in the stack.
this can be tediously avoided by splitting the stack a bunch of times, but it's inefficient and annoying to clean up after, and in some cases entirely impossible to do.
