Job of the day job preference

I don't like this very much, kinda sours it a bit (who wouldnt favorite gimmick over stafass?)
also not all gimmicks are created equal. someone who would pick boxer or barber won't necessarilly want to play as CEO or Regional Director.

Maybe make it so you can pick from all of the job of the day jobs individually before roundstart? Then I would totally be on this idea.

While I absolutely see the appeal of being able to do this, having access to special roles as a late-join character *exclusively* does, in my mind, make it more of an incentive or higher chance for someone to latejoin at all.

My one suggestion would be that if we were to implement this that it NOT count towards the special role pop count for late join. This might mean there are two special roles at a time, but if not this an added incentive to latejoiners would be helpful maybe.

I'd rather it stay late-join. It leaves something interesting for people who arrive late (rounds are ~60mins, lots only have time for 1 round) and are otherwise bereft of more interesting roles. Like antag, for instance.

I'm with OP here. Let people select "job-of-the-day" as a preference. Its a choice for people who want to have some more RP style gameplay than an assistant. I think the best thing about this change hasnt even been mentioned yet: job-of-the-day traitors. Who doesn't want to have a corrupt Senator show up to be the villain? I'm for this!

Re: people will always pick gimmick over assistant. They already have that option, and they don't. So I'm not worried about that in the slightest.

Re Recursor: I don't see why we should be encouraging latejoining over startjoining. Either is fine, really. Plenty of other jobs don't get filled on start and remain available for latejoiners and I would imagine the job of the day will be no different.
