99% sure I saw this. The fireball landed off screen, so I don't think he was caught in the explosion, either. It's... probably not a thing that should happen.

i think if its laggy enough fireballs go through all tiles, but also explode whenever they hit stuff

Chaplain's hoodoo protects him from the wizard's spells. Should be a feature if it isn't intended to be.

Chaplains are supposed to be immune to direct hits from fireballs in the chapel, I think, but that's useless cause no wiz goes to the chapel
