Cyborg force shields

During a expedition to the ice planet, as a cyborg I activated the force shield and self-repair module, but when a wendigo attacked me, I was constantly stunned and unable to do anything. The weird thing is, the force shield didn't seem to protect me at all, and the wendigo just ignored it until it killed me, is this on purpose, a bug or something that can't be fixed?
