Personalized bees are not working

It seems that if you eat a bee egg to try and get your own personal bee nothing happens. The bee reagent will not transfer to you and give you the virus, even after eating several eggs. This bums me out that I can't have a little dude colored like me floating around.

An unacceptable bug (Reagents not transferring, I mean, not the bees themselves. They are very acceptable).

I think this might still work if you put the egg in a beaker and inject it. But eating an egg does nothing but make it so you have one less bee.
