I think the problem that exists here is that it is asymptomatic, which means it doesn't do anything.

I've had that happen to me before when I flatlined. Asymptomatic heart failure. I assumed I was a vampire and went around saying 'blah!' at people and asking for blood donations.

I got nailed by a pipe bomb and only lost my arm. Then I guess I became a vampire

Eventually I'll get off my lazy butt and change the whole "not having a heart" thing to be, uh, not a disease. For now though this is just an oddity of how the disease system works.

Yeah, that's what I noticed when I had a traitor poison bottle with heartworms. First I didn't know what they did, then I penned someone and thought "holy shit they ate his heart! He's so dead" 10 minutes later he's still up and about, still without a heart.
