Ghost Role idea: I want to be Monkey
#1
Kinda an idle thought I've had a long time.

You know the randon pest/critter spawns?

What if sometimes a ghost could roll to spawn in as a station monkey. Any randon one but stir stir or one thats dead.

Make them specifically unable to use translators so they can only talk to other monkeys.

I think it could be fun. I think it'd make the station monkeys be anything but something people randomly kill or just ignore toll a rad storm kills them. A random monkey suddenly jumping out of the gene console trying to run away or your art touching monkey suddenly bolting out the door screaming when you try to shove it into an art sounds hilarious to me.

While funny.. but in my opinion... they need to be handicapped HARD then. Like ghost critters... you should be unable to do a lot of things. Wich means Mr. Rathen suddenly loses the abillity to beat you to a pulp.

Otherwise it's gonna invite griefing and such.

If we're talking a midround ghost roll thing: Disregard what's written below that sounds fun as a rare thing that can't be counted on to happen.

If we're talking a chooseable ghost-critter-like option of any kind:

It's funny, but my immediate thought is that character last year who plagued rounds as an monosyllabic monkey going "need muta" and just generally being a nightmare, not fun.
Do I think -you- would be a really fun monkey ghost NPC? Absolutely! I have trust issues giving any ghost critter more than the base level of interactivity we already have, and I say this as a huge ghost drone fan who also feels like I end up AHELPing a not-insignificant number of ghostdrones for too much interactivity with the crew either to help them or hinder them.

The basic premise is good though, I just think like Kotlol says it would have to be in a very reduced format. Maybe very partial control, like an ouija board? Ghost twitch ineffectually attempts to play a monkey brain that has a limited command pool and slow response time, anything that means to get anything done you're having to really *work* for it and anything mildly annoying to a real player is quickly preventable.

I mean as a rare midround ghost role. Just an occasiomal unguranteed chance for a random ghost to be thrust into the body of a random monkey.

Oh yeah, then that sounds fun! If nobody can bank on it I think that stops any of my bigger concerns about potential exploitation and just monkey fun.

This would lead to easy monkeycloning unless they puritan you

I feel like if this is implemented, they would both delete your brain without killing you like the other ghost critters, and also puritan you so you cant be cloned despite being a humanoid

I'd include stirstir too, because it would be fun. Especially if a traitor has to kill you or free you.

if this includes possessing already alive monkeys, i feel like there should be a cue regarding when a player possesses a monkey / a monkey is actively being possessed, like "staring off into the distance for a second."
would monkey ghostroles still count as nonhumans?

RE: monkey midround ghostrole nonhuman: I'd 100% say so, given actual monkey players/monkified players considered nonhuman. (which admittedly on RP doesn't actually get played out too much which is probably good but -is- occasionally a fun surprise for someone being a bit too rude to a cyborg)

As for the first part, probably right but I also kind of like the idea of it not being apparent for the surprise factor. However however, it's probably wise to give some kind of warning funny monkey might not be immediately worth grinding in the processor (however however however, that's very funny)

Maybe make the monkey float a bit like a possessed soulsteel object
