Made at a robotics fabricator for a hefty price, this will connect to any lawrack by tapping it against it and show its current laws from anywhere, but any updates will be delayed by 1-5 minutes.
The Chief Engineer starts with one in their office.
not too sure, but putting this out there. feel free to suggest similiar ideas / tweaks

Might be missing the point a bit, wouldn't surprise me if I was so hopefully as the thread goes on I'll get it.
Right now the basic standard methods to check the laws are:
(Certain) Go and look.
(Not so certain) Order them to be stated.
One works all the time, is limited by access and potential shenanigans that are all about antagonism/random event surprise. That feels very intentional, because we don't have public windows into the law rack, moved the law rack to a slightly less public spot on Kondaru, have discussions from AI players about the etiquette of bolting/viewporting it (brought up here entirely just to say it's something discussed not as a judgement on it)
One usually works, and if it doesn't to me is part of the social deduction that's at the core of the game. That borg isn't following a stated order? What's that about? Maybe we should go find out and wander into a trap, or maybe it's nothing. Is that borg stating a weird missing number? What's that about? We need to go and see and find out. It could be absolutely nothing: a funny ion-storm law that's doing no harm, it could be something worse, but we'll need to go find out.
This, and again I stress maybe I'm missing something: Kind of like saying we should probably put bodycams on everyone so we know when they're being murdered. It makes a lot of sense but there's a reason we don't do it in the funny space game about things going horribly wrong.
