Screen effects fail to render

No idea what caused it or how to make the blindness effect to re-render
Tested with Head Surgeon Box, Blindfold and self-rendered unconsciousness. The game 'lags' for a moment like its starting the blind overlay, but never actually appears on screen leaving me able to see the game field (cannot 'see' action text such as punches and pie throws, but can see emote text)

Is this option ticked within byond? (Click the gear icon -> preferences -> games)

It could always be related to wonky GPU drivers, or well.

It's entirely possible my old computer is beginning to melt. The problem has since fixed itself, no more blind warrior staff assistant.
