Title is pretty self-explanatory. You can't hear regular chatter, radio chatter, nothing.

Nuke disks don't have ears, when you're observing someone you're hearing everything they hear plus deadchat.

The nuke disk indeed does not have ears, but the ability to hear things while observing it would be a nice convenience to have.
