RacconPope Mentor Application
#1
Usual character name: Cynthia Xeonyr, Lindseth Orjar, Bella Bear
BYOND username: RaccoonPope
Discord username (if you are on our discord): raccoonpope
Recommended by (if applicable): N/A
Goon servers you play: 4, mostly sometimes 3

Reason for application:
To be a mentor in this community means you want to help others. The times I have taught people are among my favorite wholesome memories to date. Given such, I try my best to help where I can, even if it’s small things or affirmations of other information given. There have been times when I haven’t been able to help people, whether it's due to chaotic circumstances or other factors beyond my control, and to be honest, this eats away at me. I remember when I was clueless and was left alone in a round when I was new, it sucked. I want to be there in whatever way I can so having access to another avenue to help would be something I would be truly grateful to have.

Command:
Leading roles such as command are something I’m well versed in. Whether it’s meddling with the manifest for good or not so good reasons, calling the shuttle in times of panic, or informing others of the chain of command, I am always willing to offer guidance where needed.

Security:
Security is a place I’m sure most may know I am a frequenter of. As one of the resident beret wearers, I had a long journey of becoming well accustomed to, teaching people. It is second nature to me by now. I would argue I’m quite knowledgeable about all major facets of security both mechanical and where security has its place on the station. I have so many fond memories of rookies I’ve trained and I still wonder how some of them are doing.

Engineering:
Engineering is a department I would say I am well-versed in. Without engineering there is no power and often after an explosion, no station to work in. Engineering is the backbone of a working station, thus I feel teaching in engineering has to be one of my favorite things to do given how vital I see it to be. Whether it be teaching how to run an engine (with mechcomp automation included), guiding miners to prepare for Nanites, or avoiding being caught in an erebite blast, or selling ½ the station for the sake of profit, I will impart all I know to keep the station running even if it will just blow up again in 20 seconds.

Research:
Science is certainly a department I have dabbled in from messing with Guardbuddies to making new age chemical combinations (warcrimes) in the labs. While I may not be a person who knows everything there is to know by memory or know all the elusive secret chemicals, I am still willing to impart what I know even if it causes yet more artifact crimes on the station.

Medical:
Medical was my first home when I found myself on the station. I commonly have said that I spent the first 3 months I played solely in medical and this is not far from true. Having spent so much consistent time there, I have a great deal of knowledge and experience telling small tidbits here or there of medical knowledge whether it be robotics, genetics, or making a monkey into a genetic and walking abomination to the dismay of all crew.

Civilian:
The civilian sector is a place I often frequent when I want more of a relaxed round. I often will find myself exploring niche content in these times such as azones, or dabbling in projects like making whole catering assortments, making flower granges, or bar displays. While I may not do anything overtly complex, I still hold a great deal of knowledge when it comes to things people can take part in, and how many departments intermingle in many civilian sector projects, such as what the chef would need from hydroponics in order to make a whole themed menu.

Silicon:
While I don’t often play silicon, I am still familiar with many facets of what it takes to play as such, this in part comes with my exposure to them in robotics or having played myself for a decent period of time. I would also say I am knowledgeable of AI laws both in terms of interpretation and creation. This comes from the many times I've wanted to maliciously comply my way out of things I haven’t wanted to do or having to modify the laws in times of crisis. Should I come across any generic silicon questions I am more than willing to offer assistance and a dose of oil on the side.

Antagging:
While I would never by any stretch of the imagination say I am a well-versed antag, nor someone who finds themselves on the side praying for the station’s destruction often, I still through my security experience have experienced many bits of knowledge of antaggery. Given such I am willing to impart knowledge into others of how to be the greatest adversary they can be even if it means telling Johnny Syndicate how to use the gun they currently have trained on me.

Conclusion:
To conclude, to be able to join the collective of people who have been painted purple, would be something I would be grateful for as it would allow me to help in yet another way and to ultimately give back to this community the knowledge that has been given to me over the time I have been here. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Previous bans (while this will not affect your application lying about it will):

RaccoonPope's been someone I've seen continue to devlop and grow since joining the community almost a year ago now, She's someone I've noticed puts lots of effort and passion into helping and supporting people, whether it's teaching and partnering up with new security assistants for entire rounds to show them the ropes or teaching someone more advanced complex engineering with mechcomp, she's very friendly and does her very best to make people feel welcome,

Maintains the same level of positivity over discord or outside of the game and very active in the questions Channal, I believe RaccoonPope would be a good fit for Mentor.

If someone brings that much patience, positivity, and hands-on help, both in-game and on Discord, they definitely seem like a strong fit for a Mentor role.

I saw this application when it first came out and I was already certain Raccoonpope would be an amazing fit for mentor. I waited this long so I could be personally taught under her and give a more in depth reply.

To start, Raccoonpope has been very active in the questions channel, I often see her going in depth on things I dont have a clue in. I've noticed her teaching trainees a ton, and they all seem to grasp the concepts of their respective departments. In short, she's proven to be a friendly face and a great teacher who I believe genuinely enjoys teaching newer and established players.

I finally approached Cynthia Xeonyr on an engineering round and asked to be taught how to run the singularity. I've been drilled on the very basics but I still was clueless on in depth engineering. I asked her to teach me the singularity as if I knew nothing. By minute 60 we had the singularity running efficiently and the PTL on and automated, and I left knowing I could repeat and improve on what I did on my own.

What makes Raccoonpope's teaching shine in my eyes is how she can make teaching as simple or complicated as requested. She can give a short explanation on what to do, followed by a long explanation on why we do it if asked.
I think an equally great quality is her patience, there was multiple times where I repeatedly made the same mistake, and Racoonpope calmly what I did wrong, gave me time to fix my own mistake then moved on without any issue. These two points, while simple are incredibly important for mentors.

To summarize, I have absolutely zero doubt Racoonpope would be a great fit for mentor, this is an incredibly easy +1 from me.

While I've only seen Raccoon's characters in-game a handful of times and haven't had any teaching experiences with them, I can safely say that they're fairly active in the questions channel, and seem to give short, comprehensive answers to questions while being consistently polite. Not much else to say, solid +1.
