Reason for application + game experience (300 word minimum):

I've been playing the game for just under a year now, and in that time I have been taught so much about its mechanics by
the extremely helpful and friendly community (including mentors of course). I love every aspect of this game, and no matter what job I am playing I find it especially fun and rewarding when you get to show people new things. I would love to be a mentor because it would give me another means to help pass on knowledge to new players and curious people. This game is complex and difficult for new players, I think it's especially important that mentors exist to help keep the game alive by making it all a bit less daunting. Most of the teaching I have done so far has been in game, whether it's through LOOC or in character. One thing I want to improve on is helping people through the discord, which I am currently trying to do more of. I believe being a mentor would help me to help more people.

Experience:

Science: Probably my favourite department. I mainly play as RD under the name John Doeseph. I remember when I was new to the game, an RD took me away on a telesci mission that I was definitely not prepared for. He took me to the biodome amongst other places and from that moment on I was hooked. I love to emulate that feeling for new scientists. I have completed a fair few epic a-zone expeditions (including the big one), dabbled in secret chems, made maxcaps, and touched many artifacts. So much to learn/teach in this department.

Engineering: A close second favourite, and one that I've recently started playing again under the name Mr Tunnel. I love the singularity engine and doing weird things to feed it/extract power from it. I've tried a few hellburns in my time (always as part of a team which is the fun part). I've made some fun and useful mechcomp contraptions, but I am definitely not an expert in that area. If it involves an arithmetic component then you have probably lost me. Also have some experience in cargo and doing requisitions etc, and have died in numerous horrible circumstances as a miner too.

Security: Security officer is my most played job, I love to play as an officer and have done so for a while under the name Ronnie Roach. Teaching new players in security is especially important, not just about the mechanics but also about the culture of security on goon, which is quite different from other servers. I feel like I could answer most questions related to the role not just on mechanics but also on sentencing and how to process prisoners etc.

Medbay: The first department I learned, albeit one I haven't played in a while. Will need to refresh my memory on some surgery related stuff, but other than that I know what medicine cures what etc.

Civilian: Chaplain is for sure one of my favourite jobs, I have accidentally doomed more than one station by attracting the attention of a higher power through a ritual and shouting at a ouija board. I have a few rounds in botany and know all the basics. I have made some not so delicious food as chef and do enjoy an occasional shift making cocktails as bartender. I love to play clown and mime as well when I'm in the mood.

Silicon: A fun department that offers a lot of opportunity to go around helping/teaching people. I have played as AI and as a cyborg a fair few times under various names and know all the basic stuff like controls and best practice with interpreting laws etc.

Command: I normally play as RD/CE when i'm playing in those departments. I play Captain/HoP under the name Chad Flannigan. The most important thing I have learnt about command is when to be silly and when to be more serious. Also take every opportunity you can to teach/help others in your department.

Antagonists:  I have played as and know the basic mechanics of all the antags that normally appear on the roleplay servers. I am more experienced in some antags over others simply due to the low chance of rolling wraith etc, but I have still played as all of them and could answer most questions. I feel like I have a good grasp on the concept of escalation too.

Overall, I feel like I have a strong enough grasp on the game's mechanics to become a mentor. I would love for a bigger chance to pay back the knowledge that others have taught me and help keep this game as friendly and welcoming to new players as possible. For now, I feel the thing I need to improve most on is helping people in the discord, but I hope that what I've demonstrated so far in-game will show that I'm ready for the role.

Previous bans (while this will not affect your application lying about it will):
No bans, but I have had one or two warnings.
