The while choosing your name thing worked fine when I used it last night during a wizard round. I think the prompt to change your name is hidden behind the pop up explaining the wizard mechanics so maybe you accidentally clicked it off?

possibly related, sometimes the end of round reports how much DNA a changeling has absorbed and sometimes it doesn't-- I think the latter is a problem that occurs during mixed as well?

I can corroborate this, last time I was a wizard I did not get the option to change my name. I assume it was mixed because I was the only wizard despite a decent server population.

Yeah, that's just with Mixed mode.
