Reason for application + game experience (300 word minimum):
The reason I'm applying for mentor is that I had some great people teach me a lot of things (and continue to do so all the time) throughout my time on goonstation and I want to give back to the community. In the year and a bit since I started, I've always been incredibly appreciative of all the people who taught me so much, and I really enjoying passing on that knowledge onto others whether it be through IC, LOOC, or on the discord group. I've spent many shifts dedicated to teaching, in many different departments, and seeing someone learn and develop (especially when you see them later down the road) is a great experience! Some of my favourite moments in ss13 are when I have been teaching someone something, and they hit that "A-ha!" moment where everything seems to click. In a game with such a deep variety of jobs and mechanics, it's really enjoyable to keep learning and teaching as much as possible!
I have played pretty much every role a decent amount and have a pretty good understanding of a lot of the games general mechanics, maps, etc but I'll go over some of the different areas and where I specialise and where I lack knowledge.
Civilian: I've played a lot of rounds in civilian roles, especially when I was newer so jobs like bartender, chef, chaplain, janitor, and botanist I am very familiar with (though I definitely have a lot more to learn when it comes to botany). These roles were some of the first I played so having people teach me what was what helped me not only get better at the roles but for learning a lot of the games base mechanics.
Engineering: I have quite a lot of experience in many different areas of engineering. I know a lot of the mechanics of quartermasters and spent many shifts teaching people how to turn a profit with ease! I have also spent quite a lot of time doing mining and mechanics, and know my way around a bit of mechcomp stuff, or enough to have spent many shifts teaching people how to make functioning teleporters! Finally while I am yet to learn to properly set up the TEG well (though this is my next thing on my lisft of things to learn), I'm now familiar with the singulo engine and know my way around other engineering tasks such as repressurising, fixing breaches, etc.
Med/Sci: While relatively new to medical, I've put in a lot of shifts and learned a lot. Having some really good teachers helped me quickly get my head around a lot of the really important things when it comes to stabilising and treating patients, as well as some robotics. I also have quite a bit of experience in science, and have spent a lot of time teaching people chemistry and artlab. My downfalls in this area are genetics and toxins research but I am currently trying to learn genetics to better understand more areas.
Command/Sec: Security is my home and I have spent more shifts then I can remember teaching people, whether it be as an officer or as HoS. Similar with command jobs, I spent a lot of time as HoP, Captain and RD over the past year!
Thanks for reading my application!
Previous bans (while this will not affect your application lying about it will): none that I know of!
