The Martians aboard the ship in the debris fields shouldn't attack the Martian ambassador.
Maybe there could be a special interaction/reward for any Martian ambassador that decides to visit the ship.
Just food for thought.

Those Martians are so battle hardened, they don't see anything but a target.

its probably a shoot-on-sight sort of blacksite type deal. youd probably need all kinds of passwords and signed authorizations to get in
