Door Control panels - Frank_Stein - 11-19-2016 Every once and awhile, I see a thread about door functionality, such as the current thread about unlocking doors. I wanted to make a universal thread about things like that. So, the idea is, click drag a door to yourself to bring up a list of options for interacting with the door. Some interactions could be:
RE: Door Control panels - NesMettaur - 11-19-2016 Certain jobs will have access to an extra option in the panel that lets you change the airlock to another type, adjusting both its colors AND its access requirements. This is to help alleviate ruckingenur woes where all scanned airlocks have the same name even if they're different ones. RE: Door Control panels - Nnystyxx - 11-20-2016 This seems like a pretty cool and useful thing. Reduces "AI DOOR" and "HEY OPEN THIS" spam and lets you do stuff like keep doors open if you have the clearance I say yes to this RE: Door Control panels - DreamCarver - 11-21-2016 Wait so you're saying you could push a button to request an AI to open the door? Like with a little pop-up similar to fire alarms? This is what we need. No more AI DOOR, but BUTTONS! Also this function could notify the head of that area if it's an office or something else important, similar to mail alerts, so they can automatically say "yes AI let them in" or "don't fucking let them in AI" RE: Door Control panels - Musketman12 - 11-21-2016 (11-21-2016, 11:26 AM)DreamCarver Wrote: Wait so you're saying you could push a button to request an AI to open the door? RE: Door Control panels - NesMettaur - 11-21-2016 I was thinking make it so players who push the button too often get electrocuted, or something. A one-minute cooldown seems like a long time relative to how much can happen within that timespan. Like with a little pop-up similar to fire alarms? One of many options. You could also just buzz the people inside the room and let them know you want in or would like to talk to them face to face, and any other thing we can think of that would be useful to have on the door control panel RE: Door Control panels - Nnystyxx - 11-21-2016 Yeah this seems incredible. This would fix so many problems with travel, communication and with playing AI. Anything that makes the AI's life less miserable is a huge help to me. This can let them focus on actually fixing station problems & also being cool AIs!! RE: Door Control panels - aft2001 - 11-22-2016 I love these ideas. Maybe it could add more wires for hacking, since autoclose, bells, and ID restrictions would be nice to fuck with. Making the bridge accessible to Mr. Billy McStaff Assistant would be fun! Make it like a call button for flight attendants where it can't be pressed until the AI responds yay or nay. If the AI responds no, a 30 second cooldown is initiated. If the button is pressed back to back 3+ times the AI should be able to release a crowd dispersal grenade RE: Door Control panels - Grek - 11-23-2016 (11-21-2016, 11:59 AM)Musketman12 Wrote: This would have to be moderated somehow because it would get super annoying real fast because dickheads would keep pushing the button and spamming the AI with popups. It actually wouldn't if it works like how fire and power alarms work now for the AI. It's just a short message in chat that you can click on to go there. Or, better yet, it could show the name (click to track the person making the request) and the area (click to bring up the door menu without tracking to it) separately. RE: Door Control panels - Roomba - 11-23-2016 It still fills up AI chat pretty quick though, and makes it real hard to see if people just spam it all day until their requests are fulfilled. I certainly wouldn't mind a cooldown. |
