sparks cause it to detonate with such force that it destroys not only the docking station it happens in but also the one adjacent to it and all of the surrounding walls

Literally the only time the docking stations explode is when the robotics welding tank explodes. There is a spare docking station near the net cafe, and at least 2 on the mining outpost.
