Wood Carving & Carpentry - salix_catus - 09-13-2016
WOOD CARVING & CARPENTRY
- Using any kind of knife on a piece of wood opens up the wood crafting menu.
- each class has unique items to carve
- I think this is a great idea due to wood having few uses
- most items would be somewhat similar to Toy Figures but wooden
- other items would have more functional uses
- carve ball
- carve X figurine (carve targeted player, npc or critter)
Assistant
- wooden toy sword (super low damage)
- wooden toy shield (super low damage)
- carve furniture (making botanists carpenters)
- carve X statue (carve targeted player, npc or critter)
- Carve pod models
- carve ss13 model
- carve idol (carve idol of choice of gods)
- wooden stake (high damage vs vampires, average vs everything else)
- wooden shiv
- large wooden platonic solids
-Tetrahedron(triangular pyramid)-Hexahedron(cube)-Octahedron-Dodecahedron-Icosahedron
- wooden cyborg parts( wooden cyborgs are vulnerable to fire)
- crutch (allows legless people to walk whilst held)
- wooden leg
- Wooden Crates
- wooden staff(slightly better than no staff)
- monkey Idol
- banana Idol
- wooden train whistle
- Wooden Bucket

Wooden gloves: more damages, slower movement and attack.
Wooden bat: vampires only. Flies around doing nothing.

Oh my god I want to make hoborgs back in the shitty staff assistant lounge. Give limb options for all, maybe you need to find other limbs laying around and whittle them. Idk I just think staff assistants reviving their own as an army of borgs made out of mop handles, garbage cans and such

Yes! I wrote an old thread about this and said there should be a wood shop near botany with lots of dangerous tools and machinery for this kinda stuff.

Replace the barbershop with a combination woodshop & jazz lounge, because Nanotrasen would absolutely cut corners by putting a jukebox and couches in a room full of table saws
We could use it to make goofy shit like wooden lemonade stands, custom chairs and wooden tables, figurines, statues, etc

I'd say security could have their own special object but I'm not sure people want security carving billy clubs.
edit: Maybe as a balance instead of stunning people/damaging outright, a wooden billy club just sucks up a bunch of stamina after repeated hits making it easier to take someone down. That would keep wood objects as easily accessible but balanced by being weaker. Also you can set them on fire, turning that officer's billy club into fuel for a bond fire.
stocks that work like a chair might be cool as a sec item.

Wood shop sprites. Includes a table (the table sprite system is a little confusing so it may be made wrong) and a sawmill for cartoony executions cutting wood.

As for the location, what about that little side storage area in the catering dock above Hydroponics? It would be near enough to where the wood is made and where the laborers are from (crew quarters).
