Mutation artifacts use old code - Camnui - 03-18-2016

So I found a mutation artifact that would give out the glowy mutation to anyone who touched it. But the mutation disappeared after a few minutes like mutations that weren't in your genetic code used to if you used an injector.

This is a feature, all mutation artifacts only give you a mutation for a given amount of time.

Now that I think about it it's probably for the best, permanently blinding someone for poking the shiny thing is kind of brutal. At least if it kills you you can wander around as a ghost.
