The Crown, in all it's unholy glory, cannot be dropped, it can be stripped off, but the crown still show's up on the original users UI.

You aren't really supposed to ever take it off but this can probably be fixed easily.

If you have no hand tele, just use a cargo transporter and rush back to the ship.
