Shuttle Hacking - atomic1fire - 08-02-2015

I got the idea based on an exploit reported in bug reports.

Basically let someone with a screw driver and omnitool hack the shuttle timer.

Three to four wires, each with a different effect.

Some possible effects

One might cause electricity to jump out of the console like an APC, but is otherwise "harmless" and has no effect on the shuttle timer. This one would probably just make people go as far to the back of the shuttle as possible and maybe bolt the door shut.

One will adjust the shuttle timer to 10 seconds.

One will trigger a game over message where the shuttle veers off course.

Maybe for an additional option, a wire that actually causes the timer to go longer, just out of spite to whomever wants to hack the shuttle to go faster.

Hacking these wires should be a one shot deal.

Basically make trying to hack the shuttle be a high risk high reward thing, where only someone brave, malicious, or stupid does it and it can cause the ire of the crew if nobody wins because you zapped the wrong wire. Or because they have to wait an additional 2 minutes because you played a flawed game of ennie minnie miney moe.

tl;dr add shuttle hacking if you want to watch someone gamble with people's lives and or sanity in return for a faster cruise home. 50/50 chance this ends with someone wanting to prolong the shuttle so they can have a shuttle boxing ring while ghosts cheer on.

having the shuttle crash somewhere and everyone getting eaten by yetis or spiders would be a nice round-end joke alternative to filling the shuttle itself with monsters

Does hacking the shuttle make the escape pods finally useful? You are in the pod alone but you make it to centcom.

Fist fights over the the remaining escape pods might make for a great spectator sport.

Personally, I'd like to see the escape pods continue to exist as they do, until the shuttle is in transit. At that point they outta come in to play as an alternate route to Centcom.

Include some pods on the actual shuttle for when it's on the course to destruction so the people on the shuttle can fight over em.

Ice moon abyss looks better as a traitor plan.

A little while back I recommended that using an emag on the shuttle should crash it into the sun or something else horrible.

I support the idea of hacking/hijacking/letting horrible things happen to the shuttle.

If it is going off course, it should randomize the wires, and make half put you back on course, and half make you go faster into sol/ice moon/the side of the station.

Also, if you do a speed boost to centcom, it should crash into the docking port instead of docking correctly.

Make the shuttle crash into the station. get in not go out
