have a map rotation - babayetu83 - 07-25-2015

and have the rotation decided by cycling through them or by voting what map is next

Map stability is important, as this isn't a first person shooter or a free for all brawl. Stability allows for finding secrets, building a better understanding of the area, better gimmicks, etcetera.

Counterpoint: Free Mushroom.

you make it sound like the old maps are lacking in those things

One thing I've thought would be nice to have on other servers is maps designed for lower populations and catered towards certain jobs. For instance a larger research or mining area.

Changing maps constantly is the exact opposite of map stability. Stability being the same map for every round.

This. I would love to go back to mushroom for a bit

these maps are all easy to learn and adjust to, considering you get about an hour to an hour and a half to roam and explore i don't see what the problem is at all unless you're a shut-in that never leaves their job department

plus plus, getting an antagonist role gives you even more of an incentive to do so in order to hide your crimes better

Re: have a map rotation - Mageziya - 07-25-2015

Maybe, have the LLJK servers have different maps? Like when Cog2 comes out, have servers 1,2, and 4 be Cog2, while having server 3 be Cog1?

Re: have a map rotation - atomic1fire - 07-25-2015

Might be cool if there was a server event, like mushroom monday, where the map was changed for a day and then changes back to the current map.

The only problem is things like code changes, because you'd either need to remove certain things, or move them around.

that will become really hard to maintain.

Cog is superior to the other maps by far. The only reason to go back to the old maps is for nostalgia, and the only map currently retrofitted to do that is Donut2. Heck, it would probably need to be re-refitted since it was last seen in october(?).

I could see this as a monthly or bimonthly day-long thing, but making it semanal would be a bit too much for my tastes.

Re: have a map rotation - Ed Venture - 07-26-2015

Now what I am about to say is subjective. But I honestly would like to go back to Mushroom for a bit regardless if it took sometime to reformatted to meet the standards we have now on Cogstation 1. Now does it have to do with nostalgia sure but not completely (and I'll get back to that in a moment) I have fond memories of all the stations I've been on and I'm sure once cogstation 2 is out and we spend a year on it that I will be saying "Man! it sure would be swell to revisit cogstation 1 again!". There are somethings I feel mushroom did better then cogstation and I'm sure other would agree. Mainly for me it's the brig (not the security lobby) out of all the stations we've had so far I think mushroom got the brig right. In all honesty even though last year for October we went to donut for a time to take a break from cogstation1 I am still very bored of cogstation 1 and would really like it if we revisited Mushroom again during the sametime (so they have time to make it ready if they go though with what we are asking)

Just to clarify I do believe cogstation 1 is the best station we have had yet and the way the game has changed since we've came to this station is incredible.

I agree a map rotation would be too hard for them to maintain and get going. I feel it would be improssable with everything else they are trying to do and finish etc erc.

Re: have a map rotation - Zamujasa - 07-26-2015

Personally I'd like to see chunks of the old station (and their relevant job departments?) floating around the debris zone, or perhaps a telesci-able area. It'd be kind of fun to go exploring a worn-down half-broken Mushroom , sort of how Zeta was still around for a while in derelect form.

(Or on that note, a worn-down "future" version of parts of the current station. The familiarity would make any changes really unsettling.)
