Borgable Brains and Heads in Gibs. - TheOnlyRyan - 04-03-2015

I think It might have already been done, or perhaps It was another station, but making it to where there's a chance your brain or head complete with brain are among your Gibs in an explosion.

From the explosion you get either a brain that can be borged, and a head that can be cut open to be borged.

Certainly would make being borged less "hated" then It Is now because you get a second chance at being alive, otherwise you'd just be a pile of Gibs.

It wouldn't be guaranteed that your brain is saved from the explosions, but your arms and legs, even your butt can survive. Why not your brain and head?

I'm pretty sure there's a 5% chance or so that your brain will in fact survive gibbing, along with several other internal organs.

As for why entire heads don't survive, probably because that's not a thing here.

Re: Borgable Brains and Heads in Gibs. - TheOnlyRyan - 04-03-2015

Really? I've never seen a brain in a pile of gibs before.
I'll take your word for it smile

What about increasing the percentage chance ?

Re: Borgable Brains and Heads in Gibs. - BaneOfGiygas - 04-03-2015

The entire point of gibbing somebody is to make absolutely certain that the gib-ee doesn't come back in any form whatsoever. Giving brains a higher chance of dropping from gibs would render this completely moot.

eh, you don't want them to come back, just scoop up the brain and toss it out the airlock.

Re: Borgable Brains and Heads in Gibs. - Sundance - 04-03-2015

I have no complaints of raising the brain surviving gibbing percentage from 5 to 10-15%.
Gibbing has already completely destroyed the characters everything, and have a small chance that the brain may still be intact for use of borging isn't really that much of a deal.

Re: Borgable Brains and Heads in Gibs. - TheOnlyRyan - 04-03-2015

The way I see it is that the majority of times when someone is gibbed, there's not someone for the gibb-ee to actually blame.

Most of the time It's a random mousetrap bomb, or a syndicate, or perhaps a fuel tank bomb.

I don't see very often people running around with pipe bombs directly throwing them at people letting the poor sod know exactly who did it.

Going on that, seeing as the choice for brains is to be Borged, the Borg then can't seek revenge.

Any increase would be nice, but in my opinion even 15% Isnt QUITE enough.

But any increase would certainly be nice because Ive never personally seen (or had) my brain thrown from a good old fashion splosion

Well, the brainvat/brain things threads go very well with this idea.

Traitor gibs someone, steals their brain and uses it to make an evil robotic accomplice.

I like to use the bible as a loud DO NOT RESUSCITATE complete with show of force crossarms

Re: Borgable Brains and Heads in Gibs. - Ali0en - 04-03-2015

I'm fine with a 10-15% chance on one condition.

Brains decay like bodies, much faster as well. Five minutes or the brain dies.

Re: Borgable Brains and Heads in Gibs. - Vunterslaush - 04-03-2015

I always thought it was odd that brains were eternal. It would however give a reason for brain jars to exist so you can preserve them.

Re: Borgable Brains and Heads in Gibs. - TheOnlyRyan - 04-04-2015

I like the idea of the brain car, the sprite is nice too.

If that was added though the chance of brains or heads coming loose would have to be above 15% to warrant people and medics to actually carry a Jar in their backpack.

No.
I am also not willing to negotiate this.

Re: Borgable Brains and Heads in Gibs. - TheOnlyRyan - 04-26-2015

I've only just now seen my first head from Gibs.
Turns out you can't even get the brain out of the head.

Would you please elaborate on why you would hate to put this in?
Why should people who run around with transfer tank bombs be able to set them off without worrying about the heads of the crew.

If heads (complete with brains) don't get flung off your body when you die. Why do arms, legs, and YOUR BUTT?

People who get caught in an explosion and are lucky enough to have their head survive would then be borged and people would end up hating Robotics and being a borg as much as they do now.

Having such a ridiculously low percentage chance for a head to come off of a body and then having it not even possible to get the brain out is a massive flaw.

Re: Borgable Brains and Heads in Gibs. - salix_catus - 04-26-2015

People don't seem to realise that more people alive = more possiblities/fun.
why not just make it higher percentage...
....and make it so you can squish brains with harm intent whilst they are on the ground to squish the brain with your foot.
This would balance things by giving traitors salt to rub in the wound of gibbing.
