i think it'd be interesting if you could hold people hostage like picture related

could be done by putting in a chokehold/grab intent and then putting the gun to someone's head
of course the hostage in question could break free by resisting like you can resist to uncuff yourself
it'd be really neat to have this included as it would yield in awesome security stand-offs

It'd need to be hardcoded to go off if someone touches you or gets too close. Otherwise it's rp fluff no one here buys into.
I tried a standoff the other night. I was just bum rushed with tasers that took both me and the hostage down. Make it so that if they taze your hostage first you kill him?

Sounds kind of similar to the Bay thing.
It could have the whole thing where you can toggle how it behaves, like if it fires when they resist or if somebody gets within a certain amount of tiles.
Though that might be a bit TOO automated, but eh.

There's also the fact that a dead hostage can just be cloned. Traitor gun that scrambles hostage DNA or brain matter to prevent cloning? This would FORCE responders to be careful.

I'm all for this to be implemented if it will also work with sharp objects such as knives.
There would actually be hostage taking situations and muggings instead of plain old rampaging murder.

It'd work if the other person's body is dragged onto yourself. It rarely happens, but putting a choke on someone allows you to use them as a shield!
This would let it happen way more often than it usually does.

Not really if it requires an aggressive grab. You're super obvious, hostage has a chance to escape before being grabbed, the attacker is immobile, and it's not even the fastest way to kill if you're REALLY a bad guy with a REAL gun.

A good idea. The hostage should be able to resist out of it, and like getting out of handcuffs it wouldn't be instant. I'd say ~3 seconds would be reasonable, giving the gunman a chance to grab them again or just shoot them.

Nah resist would make it worthless. Make it take several tries like a locker and that the attacker can reset by retightening his hold.
