Electrified brig floor - Grayshift - 02-27-2015
The issue: When someone is brigged, unless you strip absolutely everything capable of breaking a window off them, prisoners will immediately begin knocking down windows in plain sight no matter how long their sentence is. Even if you do strip them, they can get stuff from the arcade machine. They can do this because if you want to stop them, officers have to go into the brig itself and subdue the fuckers all over again. All it takes is a bit of robustness, a lucky disarm, and now you're being beaten to death with your own stun baton. Even if you're smart and use your flash, it still leads to godawful Benny Hill chase scenes on people you've already brigged. God help you if they get on a segway.
Solution: A new button on the flusher controls that, when pressed, applies a stun baton's worth of shock up through the brig floors to everyone inside. It won't stop them from beating down the windows with their shoes, but at the very least they'll have to do it while no one is watching. Also, a fun button to push.
I don't want to have to completely strip people over minor, non-traitorous crimes - nothing cheeses me off more at security than getting released while all my junk sits in the middle of sec and no one will return it. This way, officers can feel safer about brigging people with their shit after a search. If they decide to abuse the privilege, shock 'em and take it away, pick up your effects at the front desk when we have time.

There are ways of fixing the problem that you stated.
Having a "stop misbehaving" button is not one of them.

I can see both sides here. Yes, the brig flashers on the other servers are hitlers but yes anyone who you brig will inevitably try to break out, ad nauseum vel mortem.

What ways would you suggest, then? Prison breaks are great, but they shouldn't be able to be conducted in plain view.
Requesting backup to subdue a rowdy prisoner is unlikely to get you any response in a timely manner, assuming anybody listening cares or is alive. Flashbangs are easy enough to move out of range, or they dash out the door when you open it to throw, get beaned in the face point blank and now you're both stunned.
Basically: Security frequently feels stretched extremely thin, and having to subdue someone you've already caught is an obnoxious waste of time. Nobody gets madder than the non-antag who gets brigged because it's an ugly part of player culture to believe that sec's job is only to hunt traitors, when all manner of space crime is punishable under space law.

There are a shit-ton of problems with the brig, I will be the first person to say this. Adding this would be a lazy fix to the multitude of problems, and it doesn't even tackle the problems either, just lumps them into one big "fuck you" button.

I don't want to derail your thread, but I suggested a while ago that the brig needs to be:
A) More fortified, more than just one window to escape (i.e: disposal)
B) More orientated. Have a way that the prisoner CAN get back his stuff
C) More personal. The big open prison was meant to be that you could interact with other prisoners, but this isn't the case. Smaller, 2 man prisons would be a better approach.

Add IR sensors in the windows connected to an emergency lockdown that sounds an alarm on all security PDAs and locks down the windows with blast doors.
Now, only one person can escape at a time unless the prisoners are smart/stupid and chew through the wires or are careful not to break the beam.

The problem here is that it shocks everyone and that's fairly shit. This could work if it was only on the tiles next to the windows or only on the perimiter of the brig.

We could just make the grilles shock them again. A good shock would teach them wait out their sentence. Also I am not a fan of the big cell we have. I think we need a mix of Mushroom's and Donut's brig along with the additions that were added to this station's brig. Have a good number of Small cells with one medium cell and maybe bring back Solitary confinement cause it was a cool concept in my opinion.

As with most things that can be abused, it usually falls on the HOS to ensure people aren't abusing them.
That said I could totally see brig being used for prison fights and the floor shockers being used to stun the participants so they can swap fighters.
I think electrified floor tiles is a cool ghetto construction idea by itself though, maybe a thing for mechanics.
