Quick Genetic Decoding - shadowdimentio - 12-19-2014

So this new genetics update is pretty awesome and the whole combination system is pretty neat, however with it came a bit of a grievance I've always have with the genetics system being pushed way too far with the whole "gene archive" thing.

Why do we have to decode gene strains every single time we find them in the same round, rather than just the first time? Why isn't there a genetics upgrade thing that, say, turns the gene strains that you've already decoded gold, and they can be instantly decoded in just one click, perhaps at a small (5?) resource cost.

Hell, this rapid decoder could be a mid-high tier upgrade in and of itself, and could be a /great/ help to psychotic people like me who are trying to map out all possible gene combinations on a spreadsheet.

Thanks!

Because it'd render moot any point in writing down notes, or the bare minimum, printing out copies of completed genomes.

It's a QOL deal for sure, but when it comes to Genetics, err on the side of making their lives harder. Jerks. mad

Pfft. Writing down genes, what a nerd.

But seriously, the point of this would be to get rid of the obnoxious flipping back and forth from the genome archive to the gene to back to the archive to back to the gene. It's just a waste of time, and having /some/ faster way to unlock genes that you've already discovered would make gene combo texting a lost less agonizing.

Why not make Quick Genetic decoding an upgrade.

Make it tier 4 so that you either need a lot of funding to get it fast, or you need to spend all round working on it.

Also allow us to insert cash into the genetic scanners for more funding.

Print them out, and you can have the printed complete one and the actual genescanner window open at the same time.

Think about it like this: If it's already so easy with the printout then what would the harm be in making this a genetics research upgrade?

Also, a large pile of printouts is regarded as a gigantic "get a lighter and ruin the lives of geneticists" beacon, if only to the geneticists themselves, and with how often things tend to be on fire, no geneticist worth their salt is going to bother with it.
