Expand the backstory of telesci areas - Ali0en - 11-15-2014 Meat Station, while small, brought on some neat backstory. You could piece together what happened and it wasn't as simple as "shit hit the fan" or "an ancient evil awoke". I'd like to see this applied to the older telesci areas, such as the ice moon (including the deeps, no idea what the hell is going on down there or why it's below the glimmering temple), the solarium, the lava moon, etc. Biodome itself could use more story added to it, it's just so awesome. I know there is some kind of feature freeze regarding adding additional adventure zones, but adding content to existing areas to me seems like a natural process that would happen over time, so I don't really get the point of this thread. Nothing has really changed, because not much more could be done to enhance them, except more plot. So yeah more plot please. That said I do think some things that carry across zlevels could be neat, like exploring the journal of a dead telescientist to discover where they stashed some stolen gold or something. If it were possible, the journal could change details so that the actual path to find the treasure is never in the same place. Like that weird blueprint? What is that for? How do you use it? Can I be used? What about the strange pen that writes in windings? Can it actually be used? The set of instructions would make me think so but the APC is unrepairable and wiring it and the console to the SMES does nothing. Re: Expand the backstory of telesci areas - Sundance - 11-17-2014 From as far as I can gather, alot of the telescience area's are based around artifacts, such as ancient robot for the lava moon. Can't say I've seen wiz though. It'd would be pretty interesting having a more colorful backstory, because you'd be able to tie it into some of the artifacts. Or visa versa, tie in the backstory of the artifacts into telesci. I wrote a bit of the backstory from pieced up information on artifact research: http://wiki.ss13.co/Artifact_research#F ... _Artifacts It'd be interesting to see for example on the lava moon, the reason as to the ancient robot concepts, give a more fruitful explanation as to what and why by piecing together information, and it'll help in artlab figuring out by memory what an artifact can do. For example you know from the aforementioned lava moon that robots have the ability to electrocute so test for high voltage shit, and you'll find out that the handheld is a charging taser of sorts or whatever. It'd tie in very nicely is the gist of what i'm saying. Re: Expand the backstory of telesci areas - atomic1fire - 11-17-2014 It would be kinda cool if there was a gimmick role dedicated to just exploring zlevels for this kinda stuff. Like a historian/researcher, who's supposed to be documenting the things they find to share with the rest of the crew. Maybe they get less access than a scientist, but they can go leave the station in search of the next big discovery. That might be a bit too rp for goonstation though. It might get people to look at some of the extra stuff, like why is zombie hulk hogan on biodome (spoilers?), or why some of these other areas exist. Basically a more fun version of the librarian from other servers. |
