Add a "destroy the engine" traitor objective - Berrik - 08-27-2014 Pretty much as stated-- to succeed in this a traitor must destroy all three pieces of the central engine core. It also gives traitors more of a reason to mess with engineers/the engine, which is a good thing. Re: Add a "destroy the engine" traitor objective - Weavel - 08-27-2014 This would be really nice, currently the only time I see someone destroying the engine is by accident or to stop a hellburn hotwire. Re: Add a "destroy the engine" traitor objective - VictorMAngoStein - 08-28-2014 That's because they know if they bomb the engine the shuttle will probably get called. Re: Add a "destroy the engine" traitor objective - mozi - 08-28-2014 Is it possible to achieve this without explosives? I'd prefer a looser definition of sabotage, like allowing the objective to count if the engine is producing no power or there are multiple unfixed pipe breaches Re: Add a "destroy the engine" traitor objective - Dabir - 08-28-2014 Multiple breeches is just normal operation though. Preferably in a way that could be repaired if the engineers bothered to check for it. Re: Add a "destroy the engine" traitor objective - Berrik - 08-28-2014 I'm fine with that. Re: Add a "destroy the engine" traitor objective - Paineframe - 08-29-2014 I dunno, I'd like it if regular engine burns (as opposed to hellburns) were encouraged, and this discourages them. I've seen the engine blown up once along with the use of a power sink, but destroying the engine is a lot of effort for basically no reward. Re: Add a "destroy the engine" traitor objective - Splatpope - 08-29-2014 Make it so the engine does not generate power if anything along the way is destroyed (sorry for your zettawatts guys but it's getting ridiculous) Re: Add a "destroy the engine" traitor objective - DyssalC - 08-29-2014 Similarly there could be an objective to end the round with the engine hotwired. Re: Add a "destroy the engine" traitor objective - BlakeJohnson - 08-29-2014 Splatpope Wrote:Make it so the engine does not generate power if anything along the way is destroyed no no no no fuck no Re: Add a "destroy the engine" traitor objective - Splatpope - 08-29-2014 BlakeJohnson Wrote:Splatpope Wrote:Make it so the engine does not generate power if anything along the way is destroyed it would make a lot of sense, if a pipe is destroyed, that coolant would leak out of the breach instead of reaching the engine so you'd get an empty loop and very hot/very cold air all around Re: Add a "destroy the engine" traitor objective - Paineframe - 08-29-2014 Splatpope Wrote:it would make a lot of sense, if a pipe is destroyed, that coolant would leak out of the breach instead of reaching the enginePretty sure this is how it works now, it's just that burst pipes have a leakage rate of less than 100% so some gas still gets through, and in a hellburn the engine gets so hot that the pressure increase rate is fast enough to outpace the leakage rate from all the burst pipes. As for destroying the engine, the problem with that is that it takes a real serious-business Toxins-built gas bomb to do appreciable damage to it, and why the hell would anyone waste it on a room that provides zero benefit to the station and is basically guaranteed to have nobody in it? If the engine's not running, it's more productive to just snip the solars, and if it is running then messing with valves or wiring gets you a lot more bang for your buck. Re: Add a "destroy the engine" traitor objective - Berrik - 08-29-2014 On a similar note, ban hellburns unless they're being done by a traitor engineer. There's no reason to do them these days and the engineer's job is to fix shit on the station, not to turn the entire central area of the station into something hotter than the accretion disk of a black hole. Re: Add a "destroy the engine" traitor objective - atomic1fire - 08-29-2014 I disagree. Somethings will always be deadly, but getting the engine to do huge amounts of power should not be a reason to ban someone unless they're outright murdering people by leaking the exhaust into medbay or something. The admin stance on accidents is usually they don't care. If engineering is too hot then don't go in it. I'm pretty sure the admins have set the engine on fire before just for fun anyway. |
