Building barricades in space with custom materials creates non-material rods when welded apart. They are perfectly white, and can not be inserted into the arc smelter.
Steps to reproduce.
Place custom rods in space to make a lattice.
Use rods on the lattice to make a grill.
Use rods on the grill to make a barricade.
Weld the barricade to get non-material rods.
