Tone down beepsky - Walrus - 07-31-2014

Officer Beepsky followed me going from the bar to the cargo bay, then to botany where he somehow honed in on me hiding in a disposal chute, he stunned me, then followed me into disposals to handcuff me. This is ridiculous and I really don't remember beepsky being completely unavoidable. Do something like maybe make it so he can't magically detect where you are? I don't know.

He may be able to track you down pretty far, but he's not capable of instant stun like /tg/station beepskies are.

Beepsky should be able to hijack a guardbuddy and ride it as a horse to chase you down.

Grab a locker or crate and find a single tile door. Pull your impassable item and leave it in the door, Beepsky will be so determined to catch you he'll ignore your friend slowly smashing him to pieces.

If people actually want you to be caught, it will at least delay him while you escape. I'm not sure if he has a set range where he forgets about you, but I have done this without Beepsky suddenly reappearing on me.

Surprised he can find you in lockers and disposal chutes though, since thermals and AI vision don't see through them.

Beepsky and guardbuddies can't go into space tiles. Also, if you weld yourself into a room he'll lose track of you. At least until he sees you again.

here is a think that bugs me about secbots, guns won't point blank on them, and lasers can go over their head if you fire in their direction but not directly at them

Is he tracking our headset frequencies? Cause if so, it'd be great to throw your headset away to get away from him... because you're giving up your headset and then you can't cry for help when shitcurity is beating you with sticks later. Trade off!

I think that you can lose beepsky by hiding in a locker, but you have to be well out of his line of sight first to do it. I haven't done this in a long time though, so it's possible that it won't work anymore?

I've juked Beepsky and Guardbuddies in lockers. I think it doesn't work if they're directly adjacent when you close it, though.

Disposal chutes just don't work, though.

I did it multiple times today, still works.

So do disposal chutes.
