[PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - github_bot - 02-07-2026 PULL REQUEST DETAILS About the PR Removes the ability for humanoids to be inserted into the Enzymatic Reclaimer. They still accept organs, human limbs, and some lliquids for biomatter as before. Why's this needed? * It's too easy a choice for security to round-remove antagonists directly by grinding the corpse in cloning. Having bodies hang around give more space for subordinant antags to revive their mindhacker/thraller/gang boss. * The station/medical generally does not stress about biomatter as cloning reaches a body-in -> body-out homeostasis; any gaps right now are easily covered by cramming an NPC monkey inside. * Bodies going to the crematorium gives the chaplain a thematic, more mechanical role on station. The hope here is to increase the number and regularity of funerals, as well as let chaplain pick up on supernatural enemies directly. * Theoertically having more regular funerals will get people out of their departments to talk/meet/greet/get bombed/shot/party, and that seems fun. * Robotics may see an uptick in borging instead of just grinding uncloneable bodies This does come with some notable tradeoffs: * Adds to tedious busy-work of being cloned; you need to now strip your old corpse for ID/clothing/etc every time * Medical may be more easily overrun with miasma from corpses if embalming fluid is not used * No-doctor medbays require significantly more effort from crew to keep cloning running * No-chaplain stations may end up with a backlog of bodies. If there's no chaplain, the crematorium can just stink to high hell without consequence. The grinder also exists. * Major, major buff to changelings (presumably). Chaplain-changeling OP? I expect there to be future tweaks based on playtesting results and feedback. Testing Unable to cram a body into a reclaimer locally. Changelog Code: changelogPULL REQUEST DETAILS RE: [PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - Drunkangel - 02-07-2026 I like this, it's a nice little bit extra complexity to medical without actually having to change mechanics but instead changing how we have to think of them. It gives chaplains more of a job, even if that job is simply grabbing bodies and removing them later. It makes embalming fluid more important, it means that medical leans to lean on surgery for organs or botany more often. All good things. I do foresee a situation where dead bodies are simply crammed into a single box in the morgue and left there after they're cloned, possibly rotting, however that's honestly a acceptable situation (antagonists are fully cloneable, possibly accidentally if that happens) and people do generally like to do things in ways that make sense in RP on RP so I feel like that'll only happen when there's overflow. RE: [PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - Kotlol - 02-07-2026 Ah the better nerf but why do we still keep picking on it? Eitherway... I am fine with this one. If you add an easier way to compact the corpse or cutting it appart. That's it. RE: [PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - JOELED - 02-07-2026 I like this I've always wanted this RE: [PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - Vulwin_Gilran - 02-07-2026 I am a fan of this idea (as a person who has made two suggestions of this) and am very interested in seeing a testmerge to see how it goes RE: [PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - GARGATHUGANOKSREVENG - 02-07-2026 make removing items from dead bodies either automatic (I think tg has this) or make the progress bar instantaneous and I'm ok with it RE: [PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - glowbold - 02-07-2026 A body being dead currently reduces the remove-item duration by 2-3rds, ending at just under second. That could be reduced further if need be. RE: [PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - smallsandman - 02-07-2026 Maybe for stripping a corpse there can be a "strip all" button that combines all the needed time into a single action bar? less clicking same amount of time as it'd be to take the jumpsuit off then everything that doesn't fall off. RE: [PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - Ikea - 02-07-2026 Just pointing out that this will effect the mindhack cloner a lot RE: [PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - DisturbHerb - 02-07-2026 item removal on tg is quick principally because you can target multiple slots at once, always felt it was a little bit busted. may we finally see more bodies in the morgue. RE: [PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - 8c2v - 02-07-2026 Sounds cool, It'd bring more bodies to the morgue which is always fun. How would the Emag Interaction for it work? Would it still take bodies? In some rounds, I see multiple corpses decaying next to the cloner just because everyone is already dying and being cloned repeatedly with the old corpses thrown in, How would this work if there's no doctors to harvest the corpses?
RE: [PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - Silent Majority - 02-07-2026 This will render mindhack cloner far more useless RE: [PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - Cringe - 02-07-2026 fully delimbed and decapitated bodies ought to fit RE: [PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - Lord_earthfire - 02-07-2026 I really like this change. And towards the concern with the mindhsck cloner: we can always buff that thing later. I feel like a tc cost reducrion is overdue anyway. RE: [PR] Experiment: Bodies no longer fit in Enzymatic Reclaimers - Whele - 02-07-2026 I think this is a great way to moderate the effectiveness of cloning in a way that's transparent and uncomplicated. The fact that it adds a logistical challenge of keeping biomatter stocked and bodies clear makes it seem more realistic. Good change! |
