Phrick mentor application - Calphrick - 08-31-2025 Usual character name: Calvin Phrick BYOND username: Calphrick Discord username (if you are on our discord): Calphrick Recommended by (if applicable): N/A Goon servers you play: Whichever RP server has more people Reason for application + game experience (300 word minimum): I recently helped a newer player learn the basics of engine setup, and it made me realize that I actually really enjoy helping and teaching people. Teaching new players is something that doesn't happen a lot in-game, and being a mentor would allow me to help and teach more frequently. I've been playing SS13 for about a year now, and in that time I have become proficient with all roles. I can play all head of staff roles (except HoS), being able to direct departments competently. I am most experienced with Medical, Science, and Security, but I can competently play every job. Engineering is the department I've played the least, but that's not to say I am inexperienced. I can set up all four main engines on my own, even if I can't explain every nuance of their operation. I feel very comfortable explaining the majority of things in the game. There are definitely things I do not know, like advanced botany and engine power maximizing. I've only been to a handful of the AZones, and I probably could not explain the nuances of most of them. I also feel at least familiar with the rules of the server. Not to the point of being capable of admining, but I can probably explain what is and isn't allowed, especially when it comes to role playing. I recently got in to helping on the back-end of things, getting a PR merged recently and creating a couple of sprites. I am really enthusiastic about SS13, and I love being able to say that I aided in the development of something I enjoy playing. My weakest aspect has always been playing antagonist. I usually keep the not team-based antagonists unchecked, as I am not confident with my ability to escalate properly. I don't know if this would really affect my competency at mentoring, but I feel like it's an important thing to mention, as I have been bwoinked several times about it.
