Potential solution to the cloning problem - Calphrick - 07-30-2025 I think it's clear that there are issues with the cloning system right now. Everyone has different ideas on how to fix it (see: the current PR), but it seems like no one can agree. I've decided I want to throw my hat into the ring of ideas. It seems like the main issue is that it's too easy. You get clone scanned at the beginning of the round, and then if you die, you get brought back near instantly. I think that a potential solution that doesn't rely on the clunkiness of data disks would be a system were clone scans degrade. The longer it's been since you have got your scan, the more cloning defects you will have when you emerge. If you've died recently, you're fine! But if you got scanned at the beginning of the round, died much later, and got cloned, you might have some serious disabilities. This would restore the smoothness of the old cloning system while potentially solving the issue. RE: Potential solution to the cloning problem - Lord_earthfire - 07-30-2025 To be honest, cloning will always be an issue for as long as its faster and more reliable than borging or surgically saving someone with 1-2 failing organs. RE: Potential solution to the cloning problem - UrsulaMejor - 07-30-2025 I don't think many people really see cloning as a problem, and i don't think I've ever seen someone use it as a deliberate method of skipping trying to heal someone (since healing people is fun). The cloning rack wasn't really intended, to my understanding, to try to fix any "problem", but to allow traitors and other baddies methods of messing with the cloner beyond just breaking it RE: Potential solution to the cloning problem - Agent reburG - 07-30-2025 (07-30-2025, 01:09 PM)Lord_earthfire Wrote: To be honest, cloning will always be an issue for as long as its faster and more reliable than borging or surgically saving someone with 1-2 failing organs. This, I hate this so unbelivable much. Lots of doctors being genuinely unwilling to, well, actually doctor. I think cloning should just be more risk involved, so if something goes wrong, you gotta spend some time to stable them. Also, even though this isn't about this, please, more medical chemicals and with that I mean actually white listed once so more appliances for medical equipment. RE: Potential solution to the cloning problem - laugoose - 07-30-2025 It's difficult to have a good place between cloning and surgery, but i do think there should be a way to bring someone back to life iwthin their own body first. A doctor has to replace their organs (maybe with cyber only), and then use something more common than strange reagent to bring them back to life within their own corpse. this means doctors actually have a doctoring method that isn't just place in scanner and hit scan->clone and actually involves surgery. Strange reagent is suppose to be a secret chem.. yet it's the ONLY thing that can match cloning in revival. We do CPR to keep people stable. But in MAH OPINION why not give doctors ways to revive patients by CPR or something like that? JUST DOCTORS WITH THEIR MEDICAL TRAINING CAN DO THIS. It will have side effects, it will be faster then cloning, but you will still need to be healed correctly. Sounds like SR light, with a Medical Training condition. Actually might be neat, honestly this is something to testmerge for a week, to see how player find it. RE: Potential solution to the cloning problem - 444explorer - 08-01-2025 Strange Reagent is not a Secret Chem. Don't know where you got that from, the recipe is on the wiki for anyone to see and use. Cloning to me is just part of the game at this point, it fits the faster rounds we tend to have and I think working around that is cool. Haven't played with it admittedly but the Cloning Rack sounds nice though. |
