Finding fossils while mining - Mouse - 04-24-2025
I like fossils. They're cool. I think it would be cool if you could find fossils while mining (particularly outside of space maps), which you could then put on display, or sell to traders, or stuff into the material processor to convert into useless rock, or extract DNA from to clone and get everyone eaten by alien dinosaurs.

Make them able to be scanned in the gene scanner if genetics has the nonhuman scanner upgrade to get "ancient genes"

I love this idea a lot, especially if some sort of genetics interaction was worked in. Would they be separate from geodes? I think it'd be cool to see fossils as another geode drop option, since the chems and gems we get now are cool but kind of repetitive.

Why not just go full Jurassic Park and make clones of fossilized creatures? Or Ranchers could incubate them for new critters to raise
