Secmate - Arrest Status Reason - BioFrequency - 12-07-2024 Could it be setup - so that when a record is set to Arrest within the Secmate computer - It asks for a "reason" for the arrest? ------------------------- In the current design. When a player is set to Arrest an alert of the persons name and arrest status is sent out to all Security personal. But, I think it would help security a lot if that message could also be sent with a short "reason for arrest" message. As seeing player "John Goonstation is set to arrest - Reason: Suspect in a break-in at EVA Storage" is just enough extra context that you understand why the individual is wanted at a glance. In an ideal world the individual setting the Arrest status would also update the suspects security records. So that any officer could open the record a read why they are wanted. But lets be honest - thats a corner that a LOT of people cut. Often times because "Why bother" and sometimes even just because the station is spiraling into chaos and you simply DONT have the time. I mostly propose this idea because i'm sick of the situations where i'm working security when suddenly a name I have never seen before is set to arrest - as often times its accompanied by no communication and no records on the suspect. So i'm hoping this helps curtail those situations from happening.... RE: Secmate - Arrest Status Reason - Cal - 12-07-2024 "Sechud flag" is basically this but I wouldn't mind this either RE: Secmate - Arrest Status Reason - BioFrequency - 12-07-2024 (12-07-2024, 06:34 AM)Cal Wrote: "Sechud flag" is basically this but I wouldn't mind this either It kinda is? But the problem is that filling out the flag is very voluntary. RE: Secmate - Arrest Status Reason - Kateaclysm - 12-07-2024 SecHUD flags fulfill this purpose in a roundabout way, but they're limited to 10 characters, so that means there's very little room to elaborate, and it's more useful for just labeling gang member affiliations or for IDing non-human antagonists. The "X has been set to arrest by OFFICER X" message could include the reasoning which would universally keep people on-track! Amazing idea. RE: Secmate - Arrest Status Reason - klushy225 - 12-07-2024 I like this idea, however, I still think this should be a voluntary thing to do. In a communicative and efficient security team, everybody should know who is on the list and why, and doing this would simply take time away from the team. However, should this option be an optional but prompted thing, a less experienced security team would benefit greatly from it. RE: Secmate - Arrest Status Reason - Glamurio - 12-07-2024 Just make it give you a popup that you can leave empty. And I also agree this is a good idea. RE: Secmate - Arrest Status Reason - Cal - 12-07-2024 Yeah I have no clue why the flag is only 10 characters RE: Secmate - Arrest Status Reason - Lefinch - 12-07-2024 (12-07-2024, 01:15 PM)Glamurio Wrote: Just make it give you a popup that you can leave empty. And I also agree this is a good idea. I was going to post just do this, but Glamurio put it succinctly. You can still quickly flag someone if you need to, but you get a prompt popup so it perhaps gets people in the habit of providing some kind of reason. I do think that it's still probably a good idea to be directly communicating with officers in a team instead of leaning on what's in their file, but also there's a lot of times where that officer who flagged it originally might be dead and I've seen plenty of rounds as AI where the team's doing a good job of communicating and just been left a bit baffled as to an arrest flag, so on balance it's probably worth doing. RE: Secmate - Arrest Status Reason - Frank_Stein - 12-10-2024 There's options for "Minor Crimes" and "Major Crimes" in the Sec records last time I checked, which I think is intended to be what this suggestion is, though I think a prompt to fill this in when updating a status would be a good idea |
