Dr. Puggers - HoS application - Dr. Puggers - 10-25-2024 Usual character name: Dr. Puggers BYOND username: NcDuve Discord username (if you are on our discord): Dr.Puggers (snufkin2708) Recommended by (if applicable): Goon servers you play: Morty Reason for application: At the time of my previous application, I had stated that the reason was the large influx of players that prompted the creation of the 3rd RP server. The situation has calmed down quite a lot since then, but there are still mild amounts of greytiding here and there. I still believe, although not necessary to a round, the HoS still bring out the better out of security officers, the crew and especially the antags. I believe that I have a good grasp over how to properly handle different types of antags and crimers, when to show leniency and when not to. My main reason for applying would be similar to my previous application, during high pop rounds, security department can fall into disarray, which I've witnessed a number of times, trying to call everyone to take a breather, collect themselves and re-coordinate. These rounds can often make a security officer frustrated enough to dish out their anger on another antag they've caught resulting in too fierce of a punishment. Security experience (300 word minimum): Since I started playing security I fell in love with the role. I do enjoy the action that the role brings but my main draw is the comradery. No department on station has anything like that. Most of my playtime is in security. Spent plenty of time reading up wiki on some antags that I do not know too much about, mostly the random event ones, because I like to be prepared. I'm pretty sure I've dealt with every antag so far, save for some special event ones. Save for some embarassment after the contraband lockers were moved around on some maps not too long ago, I believe I have a good grasp over map layouts- which is important if there's a security alert at a location that some officers might not recognize. Knowing those and pointing out the location of the alert which most times need to be handled as quickly as possible. There may be a running joke about my unrobustness (I blame that on my ping at times) that brought the attention of certain antags and in some cases, greytiders. I believe I'm capable of defending myself. Dealing with greytiders as security is a fine line of doing your job and making sure your frustration doesn't get the better of you. What advice would you give to other sec players?: When I train new recruits, I like to point out a slogan that I like to play by. Communication, coordination, de-escalation. What was one of your favorite security moments? (Either playing as a sec officer or interacting with one): Enountering the mindhacked HoS at the diner which resulted in a massive shootout. Two security officers, mindhacked HoS and the traitor Detective. There was alot of blood but the following minutes were comedic as we tried to un-mindhack the HoS and figure out what actually had happened. Other than that, it would be some clown encounters I had. Searching a clown's backpack and finding a nuclear reactor inside. What game improvements or changes do you think would benefit security players?: Perhaps a possibility of a longer sechud flag. Since we now can have 3 gangs during rounds, multiple vampires, lings and such... Having more information at a glance is very helpful since sometimes we can have up to and over 8 antags in a round. I maintain, just because 1 wizard is going around being a maniac, don't mean the other one isn't chill and has a funny non violent gimmick. Describe any differences in your playstyle when part of a full security team and when being the only security officer: The less officers we have, the more attentive I try to be and work a little faster. If it's a high pop round with only a few officers or just one or two, I try to get ontop of situation as quickly as I can. Not necessarily to 'nip it in the bud'- but more to make the antags a little more careful and maybe buy us some time. Because security can easily get overwhelmed these past few months. But when we have alot of officers, I like to do my patrols in a more 'security guard' way. Stopping at the bar, checking in on departments, talking to people. Write a poem to convey your thoughts on security/NanoTrasen/space/bees/anything related to SS13. On a station, big and grand Was security on hand. With the badge yellow and glasses red, on another patrol, off they went. On the patrol they'd see the crew working with glee. If you see anything weird, please report that to me. Security, in red or blue garb, to protect the station, in determination clad. What's a security gimmick that you've ran or wanted to run?: I've been wanting to get into a gimmick or two, but haven't really been creative enough to come up with something fleshed out. Despite that, I try my best to help others in their gimmicks in whatever way I can. Mostly funding as a captain. Draw a picture!: I'm terrible https://imgur.com/F0Y6EWk RE: Dr. Puggers - HoS application - Glamurio - 10-31-2024 Yeah, pretty much any concerns about you needing a few more rounds under your belt to really feel properly qualified for the role as a HoS have since been dispelled. I've seen Dr. Puggers on many shifts, they're very communicative and have a good attitude. Rounds have indeed calmed down and as such, Puggers definitely is a stand-out candidate for the beret. I also recall a recent round in which they've spent the majority of a shift just training a newbee very effectively. Genuinely have no concerns endorsing them. RE: Dr. Puggers - HoS application - Recusor - 11-06-2024 +1 from me, Ive had a series of good interactions with Dr. Puggers including as an identity stealing HoP the other day, they definitely know how to balance the role of security with fun for all involved including the antag. Effective, robust and fun. |
