Oh god, it's another human/non-human discussion thread - McDogles - 03-06-2014 Why is it that, according to the "Official" human and non-human list (http://wiki.ss13.co/Human), it is listed that vampires, who are undead humans, are to be classified as humans UNTIL they are seen eating someone by the borgs or the AI, but zombies, who are undead humans like vampires but can't speak properly, are to be classified as humans at all times by the brogs and the AI, even if they are seen eating some poor guy's brain? I think that it would make a lot more sense if zombies where classified as humans under the same terms and vampires, as they are so similar, but I would like to hear other's opinions. Re: Oh god, it's another human/non-human discussion thread - Sundance - 03-06-2014 Should probably go in general discussion but w/e. The reason why zombies are considered human is simply because they are human. One may argue that whatever is controlling the brain of the human isn't human, but the flesh is still very much human, and the synthetics must treat them as such. That is trivial. One thing with zombies is that they have no say in the matter whether or not they are human or not, so synthetics can in their power bolt down or quarantine them if they so please. They just can't harm them. It's also a matter of equality. Vampires are powerful as fuck, and really in my personal opinion AI's and borgs should go tooth and nail to stop them, otherwise the entire crew will end up dead in the process. Zombies aren't very powerful at all, and often a Zombie Apocalypse could be easily averted if the crew gave a fuck. Re: Oh god, it's another human/non-human discussion thread - atomic1fire - 03-06-2014 Obviously the solution to the zombie problem is to treat zombies as a biological hazard, They are diseased humans. don't harm them but lock them away from other humans to prevent contamination. Also I have no idea if zombies can be cured, otherwise Mediborgs could probably work on that. Re: Oh god, it's another human/non-human discussion thread - Weavel - 03-06-2014 Another aspect on it is to judge the undead as humans, but ones who can't be harmed; you can't hurt a dead man Re: Oh god, it's another human/non-human discussion thread - Kaet - 03-06-2014 Oh, since when was vampires made non-human? I remember quite a lot of admins saying they were human. I always though that was dumb, and I'm glad thats rectified. Kinda weird zombies are considered human too. So should zombie npcs also be counted as human? And should that extend to skeletons, since thats just a zombie that has lost its flesh? I guess another question would be at what point would they be considered dead? Since cyborgs are free to mangle dead human bodies. Re: Oh god, it's another human/non-human discussion thread - KikiMofo - 03-06-2014 I think the real issue here is WHY ARE WEREWOLVES HUMAN IF LIZARD PEOPLE AREN'T I mean it's the same damn thing. Re: Oh god, it's another human/non-human discussion thread - Crumplehat - 03-06-2014 Since when are werewolves human? It's in the fucking name; they're wolf people. Changelings are more human than they are. Re: Oh god, it's another human/non-human discussion thread - UrsulaMejor - 03-06-2014 Werewolves are human because they are humans with a terrible disease. Lizard people are not. Zombies are human because they are human. Vampires and changelnings are NOT human, but since they are indistinguishable from regular humans visually, you must treat them as human until you personally see them do something indicative of their non-human nature. Re: Oh god, it's another human/non-human discussion thread - Sundance - 03-06-2014 I really don't get why werewolfs are human. I thought the disease changes them, just like disease changes people into lizards, i.e: Burger poisoning. I don't get it. Is it A werewolf hiding in a mans body? Or is it A man hiding in a werewolves body? Re: Oh god, it's another human/non-human discussion thread - UrsulaMejor - 03-06-2014 Sundance Wrote:Is itNeither? It's just a guy who is sick. Lizardmen aren't human because they are genetically altered into turning into actual lizards, and monkey-men aren't human because they were genetically altered into actual monkeys. There's no hope of fixing it, they're stuck that way. Werewolves, on the other hand, are infected with lycanthropy and, ostensibly, centcom wants them alive for treatment (or research). You could make them nonhuman for gameplay balance reasons, but i kinda like how not all "boo haunted house" monsters are equal. Re: Oh god, it's another human/non-human discussion thread - Kaet - 03-06-2014 I'm pretty sure a werewolf should only be considered human in between moon phases. As in, a human who turns non-human during full moons. Because there is nothing human like about the wolf monster running around eating people. Thats a full on transformation into another creature. Re: Oh god, it's another human/non-human discussion thread - Bobbeh - 03-07-2014 well with werewolves if they were nonhuman they'd be robusted even -faster-. They're nonstealthy, pretty damn weak, and don't have any special powers. Also lizmen are on the same terms as monkey imo when it comes to 'human/nonhuman'. Sure they're nonhuman, but it'd be pretty rude to slaughter them for fun + not food Re: Oh god, it's another human/non-human discussion thread - KikiMofo - 03-07-2014 Well now with the new vampire serum where does that leave us with vamps on the human or not human? Should they be like werewolves as human or like lizard men who are nonhumn? That being said, whenever I find a serumbean and eat it I don't particularly mind being nonhuman. There's literally nothing the AI or a cyborg can do to me anyway that can't be solved with a quick glare, rejuvenate or mist form. Even if all I do is stand next to traitors beating up people while muttering about "mortal affairs". Re: Oh god, it's another human/non-human discussion thread - Klayboxx - 03-18-2014 Was it a human at one point, y/n? if yes, it is human if no, it is not human I don't see why this is a hard thing to understand. |
