or at least give people some way to neutralize it. maybe it has some super-obscure purpose but all I've ever seen it do is periodically add text clutter to my sidebar just because I fat-fingered the f key in that same room 10 minutes ago

The conclusion from asking multiple devs about this is: "there is no room smell variable but it could be added :devious:"
There are messages from having >0.69PPM of fart gas in the air you breathe however, so the way to neutralize it would be to use an air scrubber to remove it.

oh I see I see... would be nice to have a way to tell which rooms are affected without manuallt testing from being in them and subsequently inundated with This Room Stanks messages
