Chav Accent Overhaul - JulyJade - 07-14-2022 As it stands right now, the Chav accent mutation does not sound very... stereotypically British? I'd like to propose some changes to the current accent to make it better (and easier to make fun of British people) - here's what I have in mind. These changes are based off of the Cockney accent - the sort that comes from a real Londoner, bruv! Also, it should be noted that I am not a Brit myself - so if you are or have extra suggestions, feel free to add on! "I", "hey" -> oi "t" in the middle of a word -> ' "er" at the end of a word -> uh "th" at the end or middle of a word -> v happy -> chuffed cookie -> biscuit chip <-> fries garbage -> rubbish friend, dude -> mate sus, suspicious -> dodgy what -> wot guy, man -> bloke really -> bloody funny -> cheeky crazy -> mad ass -> arse cup -> cuppa RE: Chav Accent Overhaul - cyberTripping - 07-14-2022 one note i have looking at this is that the digraph 'th' actually represents two distinct sounds (eg. "think" versus "that"). there's no hard and fast rule for which one is used where, so it's not really technically feasible to do that sorta change to it without just hardcoding a bunch of word aliases. RE: Chav Accent Overhaul - JulyJade - 07-14-2022 Fair point! I’ve modified my post accordingly. RE: Chav Accent Overhaul - LeahTheTech - 07-14-2022 note that chav does not directly equal cockney, there are in fact areas of Britain not inside greater london ;P |
