Cough Syrup + Other - Pavatti - 11-30-2013 (Dextromethorphan Hbr) is a cough supressant which is the main medicinal ingredient in pretty much all cough medicine such as robitussin, etc. In small amounts it will alleviate cough and cold. In large amounts however, it causes the user to absolutely trip the fuck out, in a manner similar to Ketamine and high doses of PCP. It causes dissociation, loss of feeling in the body and connection to reality. Just an idea to toss into the med/chem area. As another idea, this is something that could possibly be implemented to simulate real speech a little better Quote:I had an idea some time ago inspired by Trouble in Terrorist Town. Re: Cough Syrup + Other - storm1911 - 11-30-2013 for the speaking suggestion i actually remember it being a part of the game, like if you typed something and got knocked out then it would come out like this: Storm McDerp: help in the--URGH!! or something like that Re: Cough Syrup + Other - DrivetimeMozol - 11-30-2013 Adding cough syrup would be hilarious. If I remember correctly, DXM users describe different "tiers" of highs when taking it. So if you have a tier 1 high you feel odd, almost drunk. Tier 2 you might have hallucinations etc. It steadily increases to tier 4 I think where you get full-on out of body experiences and heavy hallucinations. That would be hilarious in game if you somehow got enough cough syrup and got to tier 4 and we're teleported to the void or something. storm1911 Wrote:for the speaking suggestion i actually remember it being a part of the game, like if you typed something and got knocked out then it would come out like this: Storm McDerp: help in the--URGH!! or something like that Yea I've definitely seen that before. You have to say it at the exact time it happens right? That might be why I haven't seen it that much. Re: Cough Syrup + Other - mozi - 11-30-2013 I think it only fires when you get winded by a punch, not when you get stunned or knocked out I think it'd be cool if any punch was enough to interrupt someone. If you want to keep someone from calling out over the radio just keep wailing on them.. If you use a flash on the cyborg they get cut off 100% of the time Re: Cough Syrup + Other - Pavatti - 11-30-2013 DrivetimeMozol Wrote:Adding cough syrup would be hilarious. They depend on body weight to mg of dxm. 1st Plateau: 1.5 to 2.5 mg/kg (100-170mg for a 150lb (68kg) person) You'll have a slightly intoxicated, light headed feeling and will be distracted easier. Your mind will wander more freely and you will experience slight music induced euphoria. 2nd Plateau: 2.5 to 7.5 mg/kg (170-500mg for a 150lb (68kg) person) Similar to being stoned and drunk. Heightened music euphoria (if you like music, you'll LOVE music on this dose.) Mild hallucinations, especially with eyes closed. You may have a trouble chatting due to slight confusion and will probably be slurring words. Short-term memory loss is not uncommon at this dose, and will likely be impaired (yet another reason why in-depth conversations may be difficult.) 3rd Plateau: 7.5 to 15 mg/kg (500-1000mg for a 150lb (68kg) person) Very intoxicating, strong hallucinations, especially CEV's (Closed Eye Visuals.) Things may be become very confusing as your thinking processes are disturbed. For example, you'll get lost easier if you're walking around, you may wonder how you ended up in the room you're in (even if you've been there for hours) and timelines become distorted ("Wait, when did we get here?" or "How long has that dog been here?") You'll have intense hallucinations and CEV's in dark spaces and will be able to daze-off into your own world, and get lost in your own mind. Third plateau trips can be unpleasant for an inexperienced drug user, but wildly gratifying for anyone looking to get fucked up and have a good time doing it. 4th Plateau: 15 to (LESS THAN) 20 mg/kg (1000-1300mg for a 150lb (68kg) person) This is a sub-anesthetic dose, similar to taking a high dose of Ketamine. Your mind and body become seperated at this level and it can become dangerous psychologically, and physically. You should probably never go this high, as it can be very dangerous. If you do dose this high, it's wise to have a sober someone, preferably someone experienced with DXM, nearby in case you start to feel legitimately like you're going to die. DEATH: 20+ mg/kg: (1360+mg for a 150lb (68kg) person) This is the point at which a dose of DXM becomes very toxic and kills you. Every brand and type of cough medicine in stores carries different amount of DXM but generally 1 bottle of robitussin = around 300mg Alternatively you can use this chart http://i.imgur.com/BvMwwa7.png What it is DXM hbr (short for "dextromethorphan hydrobromide") is a drug found in OTC ("over the counter") cough medicines. In small, medically recommended doses, it acts as an "antitussive" and restricts the body's cough reflex. At higher doses (anywhere from 5 to 50+ times the normal dose) it acts as a dissociative hallucinogenic drug with effects similar to ketamine and PCP (two drugs which are very illegal to use recreationally.) Nothing terribly special compared to other drugs really, until you consider the fact that DXM as a recreational substance is almost completely uncontrolled, especially in the US. DXM can be found in more than 140 cough and cold medications available without a prescription. What this means, basically, is that you can walk into almost any store with about ten dollars, take a stroll through the medicine aisle, and leave with enough pills to (relatively safely) trip balls for about eight hours. 2nd plateau is like a trippy version of being stoned and drunk, 3rd and above are just fucking crazy ass shit. Because of the way it works, the feeling from one plateau to another feels like a completely different drug Re: Cough Syrup + Other - Pavatti - 11-30-2013 The reason I think the cough syrup would be a good addition is because it functions as a regular everyday medicine, but in high doses it completely makes you trip out. And for the text thing, well, that's just fucking awesome, c'mon and I agree with Mozi's addition to the idea. Re: Cough Syrup + Other - Klayboxx - 11-30-2013 I have a friend who digs robotripping and one time he explained to me in a very calm voice that his head was a blue paint roller. He then fell asleep, woke up later, and asked why his hands were inside watermelons. It took some convincing to make him accept there were in fact no watermelons. AKA yes add it, would be hilarious. Re: Cough Syrup + Other - Ikkonoishi - 11-30-2013 The speech cutting off thing happens whenever you are stunned I think, but it only works if you type the speech into the command bar. If you just use "say" or WASD mode T hotkey and then type your speech into the dialog box then it will never happen. It used to happen with a lot more frequency, but I think it's only triggered by certain types of knockouts now. |
