I kindof think this would be a great traitor detective item; maybe even a great replacement for the discounted lethals they currently get

To be honest yeah this would be an amazing traitor detective item but don't get rid of the AP ammo.

You can already get old thermals by ordering mask crates. Comes with a bonus voice changer.

The masquerade crate can contain the predator mask, which has old thermals and a voice changer built in.

If it was it would have to have been really recently. Maybe you're thinking of the odd hat?
But anyways old thermals seem like a nice traitor item, even if you can get them with qm access and patience/luck.
