If your PDA is currently at a file screen, such as the Port-A-Medbay or Por-A-Sci, you will be unable to respond to someone who is sending you a PDA message until you leave that file's menu.

This has been the case for a while.now but in a way it makes sense to me as you would need to change your active program on a phone, why not a pda?

Most smartphones today allow you to reply to a text message without having to switch from your active app.

So that's why it's so hard to message someone back as the AI. I always just thought it was my shitty connection mixing with the game's janky nature to drop my clicks.

Let's not forget that NT are cheap bastards. It would make sense for them to give you something less functional than a "Decades Old Cell Phone".
