Rocket Science (A Research addition) - Frank_Stein - 07-11-2019

  • Rockets become a craftable item
  • A launch pad is created where rockets can be loaded onto
  • A computer controls the direction and angle the launch pad is orientated in
  • Rockets can be loaded with two gas canisters that combine and create thrust when the rocket is launched
  • A launched rocket travels a distance based on it's thrust and the launcher orientation. When it reaches it's destination it crashes down
  • A computer gives a readout of the path of the rocket's flight from launchpad to landing site, telling you how many tiles it flew and the corridnates of where it landed
  • Rockets can be loaded with items or people prior to launching. Contents are dumped at crash site of rocket
Use rockets to send supplies, personnel, tracking beacons, or whatever else your heart desires across XY coordinates and across Z levels. Telescience, done cheap and dirty

As Toxins was removed from Manta, this could make a neat substitute.

p sure torpedoes are the substitute for toxins on that map
this does sound neat tho

Maybe it could be SS13's defense system. There's many proposals for antags that are based in a station or ship of their own, this could be the crew's response to them. Like if you disable the enemy shields and/or figure out their coordinates you can launch a rocket at them, and with science's help you can make them more devastating. And of-course the controls would be very highly secured so people don't just grab it and grief the station.

Rockets could be an interesting method of transportation and exploration; shoot a willing assistant into space to explore the universe, launch yourself in a delayed-launch rocket to quickly get to escape... Or send a ttv/canbomb in a rocket to transport high explosives to an intended detonation site.

Perhaps they could work as an addition to plasma research? Same mechanics with bombs but end result gives you thrust instead of a dangerous uncontrolled explosion.

Right now just being in the room is a sign of traitoring or traitor training, having more uses for the room would be sweet
