Songs for the instruments - TheVeseloff - 02-06-2019

Instruments in SS13 are awesome, and i would honestly love if there were more songs for instruments like sax, fiddle, organ and etc.

Songs:

The sax part could be used.

Also a part for the sax.

You can expand the list by suggesting songs below.

Yes, more songs is good.

Also it might make it much more likely to add the songs you suggest by doing the legwork. I.E. posting a short (few seconds long) audio file snippet of the song you want added.

Can do. I don't have a good editing device, so i'll use windows moviemaker. I'll see what i can do. Cheers!

also i believe copyright things are an issue so i'm sure it's preferable if you can confirm that it's open to use

Welp, it appears that i can't really do anything without an editing device. About copyright, i have no idea how to check that, honestly.

RE: Songs for the instruments - KikiMofo - 02-06-2019

As for copyright what about all the other songs we already use for the instruments? You telling me we have the rights to use those?

RE: Songs for the instruments - Wisecrack34 - 02-06-2019

I doubt we have a single song in the game that doesn't somehow infringe on copyright

RE: Songs for the instruments - NateTheSquid - 02-06-2019

idk i was just guessing that we might need songs that aren't copyright protected as that's been the case with other things people have wanted to add, like that guy who wanted to add sound effects from like doom or something

RE: Songs for the instruments - KikiMofo - 02-06-2019

I doubt copyright is the issue. I mean this is a free game also if copyrights mattered with SS13 then Colonial Marines would never be allowed and shit CM is still the most popular server isn't it?

i've heard a billion times that the reason goon removed the alien game mode is cause of copyright issues, so it's a miracle that CM still runs yes. anyway don't trust me, ask someone who knows more i.e. codemin

Don't we already have baker street?

Everyone of the songs that the sax plays is copyrighted yes

RE: Songs for the instruments - aft2001 - 02-08-2019

There's plenty of pre-20th century pieces that are public domain and are good and even recognizable by a lot of people. Could use those as well.

Kevin MacLeod has royalty free music as well if we wanna go down that route

RE: Songs for the instruments - warcrimes - 02-08-2019

Just go with all the most popular jazz standards, in a short enough clip it's honestly hard to say who it belongs to.

RE: Songs for the instruments - The Grim Sleeper - 02-09-2019

So anything made after 1923 that is somehow not so terrible that somebody bothered to upload it, is probably not public domain.
On the flip-side, musicians like 'Prodigy' and 'Daft Punk' basically remix tiny bits of protected songs by the truckload, and Goon's instruments are play back music at odd speeds for variety.
I do think they work with a network that provides a better framework for that though.
It's all down to the coders though, they make the call to include or not.

Anyway:
"The type of file that you attached is not allowed." Argh!
