Engineers work with fire.
Engineers also (are expected) to fix general breach issues with the station.
Seems kind of obvious to me that fire resistant space suits would be included with the job.
If balance is an issue, it could be a CE specific thing or otherwise rare uniform?
Oshan wouldn't have them since if there's a fire related breach, it won't be on fire for very long.

Engineers already have their own spacesuits? Unless you're talking about adding fire resistance to them.

Basically adding the fire resistance thing, yeah.
It wouldn't need to be a large resistance in comparison to the very specialized fire suit. Just enough to say "We deal with this on a normal basis, it's better than nothing".
