Just as how soulsteel is possessable by ghosts, dread, which is also made using ectoplasm, should have a similar function, except with food. This should only directly apply to items made of dread (i.e. killed cheese sandwich, scare wich project, etc.) and not those items fried or used in other food items.
And, perhaps, someone eating said possessed food item would enable the ghost to speak directly to them for a very short period of time: this is probably a bad idea because of people abusing this to obtain knowledge of traitors/other info, though maybe scrambled whisperings could be put through. "You hear a voice in your... stomach? "medbay ...cloner"" (from "wiz in medbay, cloner bombed")
