In old nuke the syndies goal was to steal the disk from the captain and then bring it back to the syndie shuttle and use it to set off the nuke.
Get dat fukkin disk.

Oooh. Thanks for clarifying. Okay, so why not? Mix it up. Keep 'em on their toes.

In old Nuke, the only effective manner for success was for the entirety of the nuke-op crew to go stealth-mode and pretend to be fake crew members. They'd all silently board the station, then try and track down the captain. Generally it was pretty lone-wolf at times, but this often failed. On the rare occasion that the fake crew members worked together, the disk could generally be retrieved.

Also, very, very, very rarely, a loud rough-and-tumble redsuit swam could obtain the disk, but generally this just results in all the nuke ops quickly dying.

Or one syndi would rush out alone at round start and kill the captain before they even left their office, get the disk, and set the nuke off within 5 minutes

This was basically the issue with old nuke. The fact that it was possible to lone-wolf it meant that that was all anyone would ever do. Actually trying to communicate with your team members was a futile effort at best and liable to get you shot at worst. All anyone would ever do was rush for a suit and jetpack, rush for the cap's office and attempt to take him down 5 minutes into the game. Half the time this meant that the round ended four minutes in, before anyone else got to do anything. The other half of the time the opening charge failed and it just resulted in the syndies giving themselves away and tossing themselves at the crew in a futile effort, causing the round to drag on forever.

Incidentally, the worst offenders all seem to be the ones clamoring the loudest for the return of old nuke, for some reason.

the biggest problem with old nuke was that with the lack of big alarms like are present in new nuke when the nuke is set, the syndies could bash the cap and whatever few bodyguards he might have gathered and sneak off with the disk with large portions of the rest of the station being none the wiser that they were ever in an ounce of danger. the syndies would sometimes purposely set a long timer on the nuke for the express purpose of going back to the station just to and try to have some more fun killing, because the cap and friends posed so little challenge

thus, corrections should be made. for example, the nuke disk could be placed in a sealed room and a BIG ALARM NOISE could play if anyone takes it, kind of like indiana jones taking the idol, only with an alarm instead of a rolling boulder. but there could be a boulder too if you like

Place the disk somewhere like the armory or a new "vault" location?
